Lucy Woolford is a specialist veterinary pathologist at The University of Adelaide. Following graduation (Murdoch University, 2002), Lucy started in mixed veterinary practice in the Mid North of South Australia.
After a few years in mixed and small animal practice she returned to Western Australia to undertake a PhD examining a debilitating viral-associated skin cancer in the endangered Western barred bandicoot. Following the PhD, Lucy undertook a residency in Veterinary Anatomic Pathology at the Royal Veterinary College, London, and the Animal Health Trust in Newmarket, England. Funded by The Horse Trust, the residency enabled a focus on the health and diseases of horses. Lucy completed the Pathobiology Membership examinations of the Australian and New Zealand College in 2009, and certifying board examinations of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists in 2010. Between 2012 and 2018 Lucy served as head and assistant pathology examiner for the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists. Her interests include equine and small animal pathology, and wildlife pathology and conservation.
